Quoted in Business Insider: How Russia May Be Training AI in Ukraine

Business Insider recently published an article, “While the US and China Compete for AI Dominance, Russia’s Leading Model Lags Behind.”

In it, A19Lab CEO Vitaliy Goncharuk was quoted on how Russia may be approaching AI development during the war:

“Russia may be training its AI on the vast amounts of battlefield data being generated in Ukraine.”

He also noted that sources such as drone footage, satellite imagery, sound sensors, civilian reports, hacked material, and battlefield management systems provide Russia with potential training material.

While the article highlights how far behind Russia is compared to the US and China in AI development, it also underscores the risks posed by large-scale access to real-world military data.
